In etching, hydrofluoric acid is used to dilute the top glass coating.
In this process the motif is etched out while the rest of the glass is covered with foil or sheets of cloth.
This technique is used mainly with mouth blown flashed glass in order to achieve a two-coloured
motif on one sheet of glass.
